Assumptions About Dreads

So this is going to be quick and dirty.
I have dreadlocks, and I love them. At times yeah they can get messy and annoying, fall into my peanut butter and crackers but they are my babies. People often make assumptions about my hair though. Walking down the street I get, “you got papers?” or “got a light” probably more often than the average individual. Or maybe I’m just losing it, or maybe everyone gets asked as often as I do. Anyways, the assumptions they make are true, I smoke. So why am I upset. It is because the fact that I smoke does not define who I am. It does not change my personality, the way I think or my work ethic. It is hair, only little pieces of protein filament that grows out of my scalp. Some people don’t have hair, how should we judge them. Can we judge them on the fact that they don’t have hair?
