Over the years growing cannabis i have learned a few things. One of the most important thing is that clones are god. Not only are they going to share the exact same genetic information with their mother plant, they are predictable. After many grows you will have the same genetic map in all of your plants. Why is this good? Chances are that they will all grow at the same rate. This mean that the canopy is of universal height allowing max light penetration into the lower nodes of the plant. Growing the same plant all the time also mean that routines can be created. With minor exception you can tell from your notes when the plant will need to be watered, when to flip it to flowering and when it should finish. Knowing all these factors allows you to grow faster and more efficiently.
Clones are not hard to make either. Once you have the process down your death rate among clones can go down to 0%. Seeds create many, many variables which limit production and increase the time to mature.

Getting Growing Lights 1st Time
So my first time growing was is grade 8. I was young but I had a mentor, not a good mentor mind you but somebody to push my love of growing forward. My cousin was living with my family because he had run away from his home in California at the age of 18 and he needed money fast. He was the guy who first put the thought in my head that growing weed was a possibility, after all its just a plant right? We've all grown bean plants in class since pre grade school.
My first growing experience started with a setup which #1 was the best indoor location I've ever had and #2 and worst setup I have ever had. In my childhood house we had a spare room that was fully packed with junk. By fully packed I mean you could open the door and that's about it. Conveniently enough this room also had a closet which was to be my first grow room. My cousin and I bought 10 KC33 seeds from a seed shop downtown and germinated them with instructions from the internet. Planted them in red Dixie cups and watched them grow as we used a 600 watt halogen light... This would be our first mistake.
Halogens produce not the right light spectrum and too much heat for a grow. We were set on switching to HPS. (High Pressure Sodium) Yeah we were cheap, we were students so we stole those first lights. We took bolt cutters and wrapped the handles in foam and wore giant gloves and just clipped security lights off of a local school. The light show was awe inspiring and exhilarating. The rush was like none other I ever experienced. I was blinded by electrical fireworks displays as my cousin stood stern on the roof of the school giant bolt cutters in hand. Knowing that I had to catch these lights was stressfull to say the least. We got those lights, and nobody was hurt, luckly.
We got away with it yeah but some would say it was not worth the risk. Some would also say that experiences shape a person. I would agree with the latter. We grew some awesome pot in my mothers house in a large closet without her knowing. If that's not successful what is?
Ma, please don't be mad at me.
